Riddles

Welcome to the Riddles page.

All entries are by Caitlin LoTruglio (née Clancy) unless otherwise marked.

Here, in days to come, you shall find little samplings of wit and whimsy, arranged so as to tease your brian.  Unless otherwise noted, answers may be found on the "Answers" page (but don't go there first - that would be cheating).  Enjoy!

Riddle the First:

I sit upon another’s land
I bear another’s name
I speak of life and death and love
They are to me the same
I stand in silent witness
Over peasants and their kings
I teach frightened little ones
That they are mortal things.
What am I?

Riddle the Second:

I can be forged
I can be broken
I can be lost
I can be spoken
I do not question,
Doubt or wonder,
You can lose me
By one blunder.
What am I?

Riddle the Third:

I break but am not broken.
I wake but am not woken.
What am I?

Riddle the Fourth:

Artful, wise,
Has many eyes –
Fingerless does
Weaver’s work
Hunts like
Vengeful, ruthless Turk.
What is it?
